At Sibley Plumbing and Gas Ltd, two different boiler servicing options are provided. Here’s some further information about the differences between the two.

What is a standard boiler service?

Like a car MOT, a standard boiler service is where checks are made on your boiler, any issues are highlighted and a report is provided. This service is the most popular depending on the age of your boiler. A Gas Safety Certificate is issued after completion of servicing.

What does a standard boiler service entail?

Functionality Check  –  when I arrive at your property, I will check that your boiler is functioning and providing heating and hot water as it should be.

Visual Inspection – the inside and outside of your boiler will be inspected visually. 

Safety Checks – safety devices are checked to see if they are operating as they should.

Flue – the flue gases are checked to make sure the boiler is burning gases safely and will adjust to your boiler’s manufacture instructions as required.

Gas Meter – a tightness test is carried out to make sure there are no gas leaks on your system and the emergency control tap is operating.

Boiler Condense Trap – this is cleaned as and when required.

Expansion Vessel – this is recharged if required.

System Filters – these are cleaned if installed.

What is a full strip down boiler service?

It is advised that a full strip down service of the boiler should take place every 3-5 years if we are servicing the boiler annually, if we are servicing the boiler for the first time, or if the boiler has not been serviced for 3 years or more.

What does a full strip down boiler service entail?

Main Heat Exchanger – the heat exchanger will be cleaned out, a new burner seal and electrodes will be fitted if required. *Please note that parts are not included. Part prices will depend on boiler and current retail.
